Follow in the footsteps of ancient Romans as you explore the magnificent monuments of the Roman Empire, and discover the flavours of traditional Roman cuisine!

Day 1 Rome

On arrival in Rome make your way to the selected hotel. An optional transfer can be booked on request. After checking in, take some time to relax and then set out again to start exploring Rome on your own.

Day 2 Rome | Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill Tour

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and the morning at leisure to explore on your own. This afternoon's tour displays how the Romans built an empire of truly gigantic proportions. The testimony of its greatness is still visible in the places where the city was built, more than 2772 years ago, by the legendary twin brothers Romulus and Remus. To see it with your own eyes, join us this afternoon and our professional guide on this 3- hour-tour: we’ll provide you with a pocket radio receiver and earphones, and let you access the Colosseum skipping the long line. You’ll walk inside the Flavian Amphitheater, seeing the places where the Ancient Romans used to watch a variety of events, such as gladiatorial shows or staged animal hunts, and you’ll learn more about the way Romans used to enjoy their leisure time. Stroll around Palatine Hill, the place where Rome was founded and where Roman emperors used to live: the view is spectacular from here, so get your camera ready for some perfect shots from above! You’ll also reach the Roman Forum, the pulsating heart of ancient Roman life, to see some very well-preserved ruins of that time: let the tour guide take you back in time and try to imagine how it was like to be a Roman citizen (B)

Day 3 Rome | Roman Food Tradition Walking Tour

This morning discover the traditions of Roma food. Whether you’re a seasoned gourmand or just a food lover wishing to find out more about Roman cuisine and Italian food traditions, this small group tour will be perfect for you. And yes, you’ll try and taste lots of different treats! Join our local food connoisseur guide and enjoy a lovely walking tour through local food markets, grocery stores, and gelato shops in the areas of Campo De’ Fiori, Trastevere, and the Jewish Ghetto. We know that exercise makes one hungry, that’s why we thought you’d appreciate some tasting pit-stops. You’ll enjoy a slice of freshly baked crispy pizza bianca (Rome’s own version of focaccia) cut in half horizontally and filled with thin slices of freshly cut mortadella: a traditional, more-Roman-than-the-Colosseum, easy snack that locals love. And what about trying a supplì?This little ball of deep-fried tomato sauce risotto with a heart of melted mozzarella cheese is everyone’s favourite street food. Pasta will be on the list too, along with some dishes from the Roman Jewish tradition: the 'carciofo alla giudia', a Jewish style deep-fried artichoke that resembles a tiny sunflower, as well as 'filetto di baccalà', a fleshy fillet of cod, battered and deep-fried. And make sure to save some space for dessert, because we won’t skip our portion of artisan gelato! The remainder of the day is yours to pass as you choose. Consider a leisurely walk down famous Via Condotti, Rome's main location for haute couture and "aspirational" window shopping. Or make your way to the Trevi Fountain where be sure to Three Coins to be sure that this is not your last visit to the Eternal City! (B)
