Take in the magnificent views of the Gulf of Naples, walk along scenic coastal paths & swim in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. Visit bustling fishing villages where you can savour mouthwatering local food & the famous Limoncello liquor. This tour is all about enjoying the Italian way of life, the sun and the sea!

Day 1: Arrive in Sorrento

Arrive in Sorrento and, as soon as you get settled in your accommodation, step outside and breathe in the incredibly fresh air of the Mediterranean Sea. Take some time to visit Sorrento's historic centre, and in the evening, let all your senses be delighted as you prepare for your phenomenal walking adventure ahead. Accommodation in Sorrento will be at Hotel del Corso or similar.

Day 2: Capri day trip

Today you board a ferry from the port of Sorrento to Capri Island, the pearl of the Bay of Naples. Here you have a choice of two walks, a short easy walk to visit Emperor Tiberio’s villa or a longer coastal walk that takes you from the hill town of Anacapri down to the west coast, with the option of an additional easy panoramic coastal walk to the Blue Grotto. On the island, you can use the public bus or cable car to travel around. In the late afternoon return to Sorrento by ferry. (B)
WALK A: Circular walk to the Roman emperor Tiberius' Villa Jovis
This is an easy walk that goes from the town of Capri to the Roman Villa Jovis from where Emperor Tiberio is said to have thrown his rivals and unwanted guests off the cliff. Walk along paved and cobbled lanes lined with luxurious gardens, and take in great views of the western side of the island and the Gulf of Naples.
Walk A challenge: 1.5 hours, 5.3 km, 239 m climb, 238 m descent
WALK B: From Anacapri to Punta Carena and extension to Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra)
A really spectacular walk with really great views of the Faraglioni, Capri, the Gulf of Naples and the imposing cliffs between Monte Solaro and Punta Carena. The recommended starting point, Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri, is where most tourists arrive by public transport. From Anacapri a 2 kilometer climb brings you to the top of Monte Solaro. You can also take the cable car from WP2 to WP9. Alternatively from WP8, you can make a 400m detour to reach WP40 from where you can enjoy exceptional views. Following the panoramic cliff edge, a gentle descent brings you to Punta Carena. The trail runs a few meters from the cliff edge, but it may pose a problem for those suffering vertigo. From Punta Carena, you return by bus to Anacapri where you change bus to reach Capri or Marina Grande. Or you can also continue walking to the Blue Grotto.
Walk B challenge: 1.5-2 hours, 6.5 km, 278 m climb, 559 m descent
WALK C: Extension to Blue Grotto from Punta Carena
This is one of the most picturesque trails on the island. The path gently contours the coast offering spectacular sea views from the cliffs and 19th-century military forts. From the end of the walk, take the local bus to Piazza della Pace, Anacapri.
Walk C challenge: 1.5-2 hours, 5.9 km, 276 m climb, 283 m descent

This walk starts with a long staircase then winds its way through lemon groves on narrow country lanes. Your luggage will be taken directly to Marina del Cantone where you'll enjoy accommodation at Hotel La Certosa or similar. Challenge:   3 hours,  8.5 km, 549 m climb, 549 m descent

Day 5: Walk from Sant’Agata to Colli San Pietro and local bus to Amalfi

A private transfer will take you this morning to Sant’Agata Sui Due Golfi from where you then walk to Colli San Pietro, located slightly inland and high above the coastline. This picturesque walk follows along old country lanes and footpaths through terraced fields, olive and lemon groves that open out onto the Mediterranean. Here you can clearly smell the wildflowers and Mediterranean scrub. In the afternoon take a local bus to Amalfi where you will stay for 3 nights at Hotel Fontana or similar. (B)
Challenge:   2.5 hours,  9.5 km,  329 m climb, 416 m descent

Day 6: Sentiero degli Dei

Discover the most famous of the walks on the Amalfi Coast - the Sentiero degli Dei or Path of the Gods. Make your way by local bus to Bomerano and then set out on the fabulous Sentiero degli Dei. Take in the immense coastal panoramas and the fascinating views of this high cliff coastline as you make your way to the colourful village of Positano perched on the side of the mountain. From Positano return to Amalfi by public bus. (B)
Challenge:   2 hours,  7.2 km,  70 m climb, 70 m descent

Day 7: Via delle Ferriere loop

Today you can choose from two walks through the Valle delle Ferriere, or mills. A short easy circular walk gives you plenty of time in the afternoon to explore Amalfi or take the local bus up to Ravello, which is worthwhile visiting. The longer walk will satisfy even the most demanding walker with its spectacular views of the Bay of Salerno and the high cliffs of the Amalfi coast. (B)
WALK A: Amalfi-Pontone-Amalfi through the Valle delle Ferriere
An easy walk that takes you from Amalfi to Pontone through the Grevone Valley on a gradually ascending path through the gorge.  Along the way you will encounter the remains of the iron quarries (ferriere) and the ancient water powered mills (mulini) which once produced Amalfi's famous paper. From WP10 and Pontone you have a nice panoramic view on the Valle delle Ferriere and Amalfi.
Walk A challenge:  2 hours,  6 km,  452 m climb, 542 m descent
WALK B: Amalfi-Pontone-Pogerola-Amalfi above the Valle delle Ferriere
You can start in Amalfi but if you want to avoid a 1.5 km steep climb, take a public bus from Amalfi to Pontone and start walking from there. The itinerary offers great views of the gorge and of Amalfi, especially after Pontone. In general, the climbs and descents are gradual. You can also shorten the walk and avoid the last descent to Amalfi by taking the public bus in Pogerola.
Walk B challenge:  3.5-4 hours,  14.3 km,  650 m climb, 650 m descent

Day 8: Arrivederci Amalfi!

The trip ends after breakfast. You can depart Amalfi by local bus to reach Naples airport for your onward journey. (B)
