Immerse yourself in the history & culture of ancient Athens visiting two of the city's most famous archaeological sites & landmarks - the Acropolis & the Acropolis Museum plus so much more. A half-day tour to Cape Sounion and its magnificent Temple of Poseidon completes this 4-day City Break.

Day 1: Athens

Arriving at Athens airport, your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel located in central Athens. The remainder of today is at your leisure to start exploring Athens on your own.

Day 2: Athens City, Acropolis & Acropolis Museum

This morning's tour allows you to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city and highlights two of its most famous archaeological sites & landmarks - the Acropolis & the Acropolis Museum. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma Square). At the Acropolis, you will visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts the order in the mind” - the Parthenon. Feel the history of this magnificent archaeological site and be amazed by the breathtaking view of the city below. Then you'll proceed to visit another must-see in Athens, the place where finally the statues found their home, and admire the wonders of the classical era: the New Acropolis Museum. Displaying over 4000 artefacts from the Acropolis and excavations visible under glass floors & walkways, it was voted the 3rd best museum in the world by the Sunday Times. Please note that due to certain restrictions on the visiting hours of the New Acropolis Museum, the order of the program can change. Your tour will end around 1:30 pm and the remainder of the day is free to spend as you choose. Consider taking a stroll through the bustling lanes of the Plaka and perhaps enjoy lunch at one of the traditional outdoor restaurants. (B)

Day 3: Cape Sounion

After spending the morning at leisure, this afternoon sees you driving along the coastal road, passing the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni & Varkiza to reach the southernmost point of Attica - Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. Along the way, enjoy the splendid views of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you'll have some time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion. The return to Athens is expected around 7:00 pm. (B)
