Experience some of the many treasures in Rome and the wonderful Italian region of Tuscany. Visit renowned locations, savour traditional local cuisine, taste fine Chianti wines under the tutorage of the winemaker & stroll through historic streets. Our Rome & Taste of Tuscany Tour is a 7-day experience focusing on life's finer things - Food, wine, culture and time to relax and enjoy them all!

Day 1: Rome

Benvenuti in Italia! Once you have collected your luggage & cleared customs, you’ll find your private driver waiting for you in the Arrivals area displaying your name on a board and ready to whisk you comfortably to your hotel in the centre of historic Rome. Check into your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day relaxing, or start getting acquainted with the Eternal City.

Day 2: Rome - Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill

This morning get ready to enter into the legend! Jump into Roman history and discover with an expert guide & Skip-the-Line admission. The Ancient Romans didn’t like to stay in bed in the morning; they were suspicious of those who opted for a lie-in and typically woke up at sunrise or earlier, then headed to the Forum and got to do business. If you’re an early bird like them, come and join us on a tour of Rome’s world-famous archaeological area - the Colosseum, Forum & Palatine Hill. Accompanied by an expert guide who’ll provide you with a pocket audio receiver & earphones, you’ll access the Colosseum by skipping the usually long line. The Flavian Amphitheatre, created to entertain ancient Roman citizens with bloody shows of gladiators, animals & cruel games, stood the test of time and is now one of the most fascinating landmarks of the city. You will then reach the Palatine Hill, the place where Rome was founded more than  2772 years ago by the legendary twin brothers Romulus and Remus and stroll around the Roman Forum, the pulsating heart of ancient Roman life: let your guide tell you everything about those days and take you on a  travel through time. Unforgettable! The tour ends after approximately 3 hours in the Archaeological area and the rest of today is yours to continue exploring on your own. (B)

Day 3: Rome - Discover Roman Food Traditions

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before setting out on a unique food walking tour. Whether you’re a seasoned gourmand or just a food lover wishing to find out more about Roman cuisine and Italian food traditions, this tour will be sure to please every palate. You’ll join our local food connoisseur guide for a food walk, in a group of no more than 12 people. And yes, you’ll try and taste lots of different treats! We’ll meet in  Piazza Farnese and enjoy a lovely walking tour through local food markets, grocery stores, and gelato shops in the areas of Campo De’ Fiori, Trastevere, and the Jewish Ghetto. It is well known that exercise makes one hungry, that’s why we thought you’d appreciate some pit stops. For instance, you’ll enjoy a slice of freshly baked crispy pizza bianca (Rome’s own version of focaccia) cut in half horizontally and filled with thin slices of freshly cut mortadella: a traditional, more-Roman-than-the-Colosseum easy snack that locals love. And what about trying a supplì? This little ball of deep-fried tomato sauce risotto with a heart of melted mozzarella cheese is everyone’s favourite street food. Pasta will be on the list too, along with some dishes from the Roman Jewish tradition: the 'carciofo alla giudia', a Jewish style deep-fried artichoke that resembles a tiny sunflower, as well as 'filetto di baccalà', a fleshy fillet of cod, battered and deep-fried. And save some space for dessert, because we won’t skip our portion of artisan gelato! After this tasty experience, you are free to spend the afternoon as you choose. Consider visiting the Villa Borghese Gardens or stroll down the famous chic Via Condotti, Rome's leading location for haute couture and "aspirational" window shopping. And don't forget to make your way to the Trevi Fountain where be remember to toss Three Coins to make sure that this is not your last visit to the Eternal City! (B)

Day 4: Rome | Florence | Tuscany

This morning after breakfast, and in no great hurry, make your way to Rome’s railway station to board a high-speed train with reserved seats to Florence where you will find your private driver waiting to bring you to Borgo San Luigi. Relais Borgo San Luigi is a four-star hotel ideal for lovers of art, nature and gourmet food and wine. Tonight you will be treated to a Welcome Dinner at Borgo San Luigi's renowned restaurant. (B.D)

Day 5: Tuscany - Brunello di Montalcino

Enjoy a leisurely morning at your hotel before being picked up for an afternoon tour of culture and wine as you visit some of the most impressive destinations in Tuscany. In a small group setting you'll explore Montalcino and its stronghold and taste the world-famous wines. Brunello which is presently considered the best wine in the world has its ancestral roots in the passion of the inhabitants of Montalcino and in the ancient winemaking tradition, handed down from one generation to the next. The town of Montalcino, the sanctuary of this wine produced from Sangiovese grapes, stands on a charming hill that will let you relish its natural wholesomeness. This historic town, its century-old fortress, and the best local wineries reviewed in specialized magazines are the main destinations of our outing. Great skill in the cellar, which includes a long maturation in casks made from valuable wood, makes Brunello wine the holder of the title of “the Italian ambassador in the world of our winemaking reality”, the most highly regarded wine in the world. You will have the opportunity to taste prestigious wines in the best wineries of the territory and to discover Montalcino and the wonderful surrounding area. Return to your hotel in the early evening. (B)

Day 6: Tuscany - Chianti Wine Tour

Today's program includes a guided wine tour of Chianti. After a leisurely breakfast, depart Borgo San Luigi to visit the charming town of Monteriggioni, followed by a wine tasting in a characteristic castle. The tour continues to the medieval village of Castellina in Chianti where you'll have some free time. Then relax and admire the beautiful panoramic views as you travel back to Borgo San Luigi through the famous Wine Route. The remainder of the afternoon and evening are at your leisure. (B)
