The European Cities of Prague, Vienna & Budapest are among the most in-demand European destinations. Steeped in history & culture, the independent traveller will find a wealth of things to do & discover while visiting these fascinating imperial cities and return with countless memories of the cuisine, the architecture and diverse history. 

Day 1: Budapest

On arrival at Budapest airport make your way to your centrally located hotel. Check-in and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure to get acquainted with your new surroundings. Budapest is a fascinating city that will capture your heart as well as your imagination. Sitting at the crossroads of the West & East and with over 1000 years of history on display, it is often referred to as the Pearl of the Danube. In Budapest, you'll find side by side the remains of fortresses and buildings from Roman times, still operating Turkish baths, Gothic and Baroque buildings, and the incredibly rich Art Nouveau architectural heritage.

Day 2: Budapest City Tour

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then set out to discover the highlights of Hungary’s capital during this half-day guided city tour of Budapest. We start the tour from the Chain Bridge, pass by the Parliament and take the Margaret Bridge to drive over to the Buda side. We stop in the Castle District and during a short walk we show you the main attractions of the area. We continue walking to Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. Next, we drive to the Gellért Hill (Citadel) and show you the most spectacular view of Budapest. We then take you over the Elisabeth Bridge to Pest and show you the famous Central Market Hall and the largest Synagogue in Europe, after which we drive to the City Park. We pass by Europe’s largest thermal spa, the Budapest Zoo, and the Amusement Park, then stop at the Heroes’ Square with the statues of the most famous Hungarian kings & dukes. Finally, the tour continues along Andrássy Avenue to downtown Pest, passing by the Opera House and the St Stephen’s Basilica. During the tour, you will also receive a brief overview of the last 1000 years of Hungarian history. The tour ends in the city center and the rest of the day is free to continue exploring as you please. (B)

Day 3: Budapest | Vienna

Following breakfast at the hotel make your way to Budapest railway station for the short train ride to Vienna. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery as you travel towards Austria. On arrival at Vienna railway station, transfer independently to your hotel in central Vienna for check-in. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to start exploring the Austrian capital on your own. Stroll through the historic centre, visit one of the many museums & art galleries or perhaps stop at the iconic Sacher Hotel's café to relax and enjoy a slice of the famous Sacher Torte. (B)

Day 4: Vienna City Tour & Schönbrunn Palace

In the morning you'll enjoy a guided tour highlighting the most important tourist attractions Vienna has to offer, followed by a visit to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace with its beautiful showrooms. Your sightseeing tour begins with a drive along the Ringstrasse boulevard, where you pass many popular tourist attractions. Admire the impressive Vienna State Opera where the famous "Opera Ball" takes place every year, the Grand Hofburg Palace former winter residence of the imperial family, the monumental buildings of the Museum of Art History, and the Museum of Natural History. Further sights on our tour include the neoclassical Parliament, the acclaimed Burgtheater and the striking City Hall, where the legendary Life Ball takes place. We then proceed to Schönbrunn Palace for a guided tour with skip-the-line tickets included - no need to wait for Austria’s most popular tourist attraction! The former imperial summer residence, Schönbrunn Palace is a listed World Heritage Site and attracts millions of people from all over the world every year. We visit the historic state rooms and see how the imperial family once lived. Afterward, you have free time to take a stroll through the palace gardens or enjoy a cup of original Viennese coffee and a piece of delicious apple strudel, before returning to the city centre. This tour has a duration of 3.5 hours approximately and the afternoon is at your leisure to continue exploring as you chose. (B)

Day 5: Vienna | Prague

Following breakfast at the hotel, and at a time of your choosing, transfer independently to the railway station where you will board a train to Prague. Enjoy wonderful views of the Austrian countryside as you travel towards the Czech capital city of Prague and, upon arrival, make your way to your hotel in downtown Prague. After checking in, the remainder of the days yours to relax or start exploring this beautiful imperial city on the Vltava River. Proudly nicknamed ‘city of a hundred spires’ and ‘the golden city’, Prague’s boasts an extensive & well-preserved historic centre, and is one of the most in-demand European destinations. (B)

Day 6: Grand City Tour of Prague & Guard Change

Breakfast at hotel, followed by a half-day guided city tour which will introduce you to Prague's main historic sites & monuments. Your professional guide will thoroughly acquaint you with Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe with its thousand years old history and architecture. From the comfort of our air-conditioned bus, we will first show you the New Town with the Wenceslas Square, the National Museum, the National Theatre, a panoramic view of Prague Castle and the Lesser Town as well as the Charles Bridge. You will then continue with a visit to Prague Castle and the most dominant feature of Prague - the St. Vitus Cathedral. After visiting the grounds of Prague Castle, we will take you to the dock on the Vltava river where you'll board a tourist boat. Sit back and relax while admiring the beauty and panorama of Prague from a different perspective. From the upper deck, you will also see the famous Charles Bridge. Once the boat journey has finished, we continue with a short walk through the Jewish Quarter to the Old Town Square with the Astronomical Clock and Church of Týn, where this tour will end after around 3 & 1/2 hours.  The afternoon is free to spend as you please. Day 7: Prague departure

Today marks the end of your Imperial Triangle tour. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before making way to the airport or railway station. An optional transfer is available on request. Or ask your travel agent about extending your vacation with CIT Tours. (B)
