It was built in the 19th Century as a private refuge for King Ludwig II, Bavaria's fairy tale King, while the smaller French-Rococo style Linderhof Castle served as his hunting lodge, and during this tour, you will visit these two architectural gems.  "Mad King" Ludwig II built his dream castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof in the solitude of the mountains, amidst an idyllic landscape. This tour will visit these two architectural gems. We will make a short stop to take photographs or buy some souvenirs in Oberammergau, the picturesque village internationally known for its Passion play, wooden crafts and beautifully painted houses. Then we will visit the inside of Neuschwanstein castle, stop for lunch at Hohen Schwangau castle (no inside visit), before continuing to Linderhof Castle.  This tour has a duration of approximately 10.5 hours and departs daily.
