After breakfast at your hotel, this morning set off for a guided tour of Pompeii. In about 30 minutes you will arrive at Pompeii, the ancient Roman city destroyed tragically after the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in the year 79 B.C. Considered one of the world's most important historical sites because of the way the volcanic ash preserved the city and its people, Pompeii offers a vivid picture of life in the Roman Empire around 2,000 years ago. A 2-hour guided visit will show you the main public monuments and some of the homes of the Pompeii ruins. You can admire all the structures typical of the Roman world, such as the main square or forum, baths, theatres, mansions with remains of frescoes from Roman times, and the attraction of spectacular plaster casts containing bones of Pompeians that died during the disaster. You will then have a little free time before returning to Sorrento where you'll arrive at around 1:30 pm. Today's tour has a duration of about 4 hours.
