Day 1 Arrival in Paris
On arrival transfer independently to your selected hotel. Alternatively, for added convenience, you can book an optional transfers from the airport or railway station to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to start discovering the city of lights. Paris offers an endless wealth of monuments & architectural treasures, museums, galleries, quaint historic quarters, charming restaurants & cafés, just waiting to be explored. Overnight accommodation.
Day 2 Paris
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then a guided tour of Paris' historic centre & birth place - Île de la Cité. Driving through the city's oldest part, you will first admire the geometric design of Vendome Square and the fantasy of the old Opera House, followed by a drive through the Marais district and its 'hotels', private townhouses of the nobility of the 17th and 18th centuries. The tour continues cross the Latin Quarter with its old Sorbonne University, the Luxembourg Gardens, Saint Germain des Prés with its Romanesque church and famous cafés, before dropping you near the Orsay Museum for the short boat transfer to the Cité Island. Here you will enjoy a guided visit of the interior of Notre-Dame Cathedral* before returning again by boat to the Cityrama office located near the Louvre Museum & Tuileries Gardens. *In case of mass, the guide will comment for you the cathedral and its three portals from outside but will not be allowed to speak inside. Remainder of the day at leisure and overnight accommodation. (B)
Day 3 Versailles Castle
Breakfast at the hotel and then start the day with a visit to the famous Versailles Palace. Versailles represents a reminder of the grandeur of classical French architecture. The extravagant decoration and layout of the entire site reflect the will of King Louis XIV, known as the Sun King. Your guide will enthrall you with the life of the Kings during a guided tour of the beautifully decorated State Apartments (Hall of Mirrors and Queen's apartments). Then enjoy some free time to stroll around the palace grounds & the famous French gardens (during Summer a garden access fee applies when the fountains or Musical Gardens are playing; fee not included in tour). Return to Paris and free time to continue exploring on your own, perhaps visits one of the many museums & art galleries or famous department stores.
Tonight you will discover Paris from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower during a pleasant dinner at the restaurant "Le 58 Tour Eiffel", followed by a one hour Seine Cruise to admire the monuments and the bridges of the City of Lights. (B.D)
Day 4 Paris
Today marks the end of your Paris Essential discovery. Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and end of services. Or ask your Travel Agent about extending your vacation with CIT Tours. (B)
