Day 1: Arrival Quito

Saturday - Arriving in Quito you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Once you have checked in the remainder of the day is free to acclimatize of start exploring this historic city on your own.

Day 2: Quito

Sunday - Breakfast at your hotel. Quito colonial city tour exploring the bustling streets and squares of the largest historical old town in the Americas. Visit some of its most important churches such as the majestic La Compaña and iconic San Francisco, repositories of a stunning multi-ethnic artistic and cultural heritage. (B)

Day 3: Quito | Galapagos Islands - Santa Cruz Island

Monday - Departure from your Quito hotel and short 2 1/2 hour flight to Baltra. Arriving on Baltra you will be met by our naturalist guides and taken on a ten minute bus drive to the pier to board the M/V Galapagos Legend. PM: Highlands & Pit Craters (Santa Cruz) Trek through the highlands of Santa Cruz, observe the famous giant tortoises in their natural habitat, walk inside surprising lava tubes; also visit Pit Craters created from the collapse of surface materials into chamber fissures underground.(B.L.D)

Day 4: Galapagos Islands - Santiago & Bartolome Islands

Tuesday - AM: This morning visit Egas Port & Salt Mines (Santiago) Most of the landscape is comprised of layers of rocks and lava flows. Observe great blue herons, striated herons, yellow crowned night herons. The Salt mines are an important historic spot because of salt exploitation. PM: Bartolome Island After a hike to the summit you will be impressed by the view of the eroded tuff cone of Pinnacle Rock. Beach and snorkeling time to see Galapagos penguins, sea turtles, among a great variety of colorful fish schools.(B.L.D)

Day 5: Galapagos Islands - Dragon Hill & North Seymour Island

Wednesday - AM: Dragon Hill (Santa Cruz) The trail leads up to Dragon Hill which offers a lovely view of the bay. This is a nesting site for reintroduced land iguanas. Walk by a brackish lagoon where feeding flamingos can be occasionally found. PM: North Seymour Island This site is a major nesting colony of blue-footed boobies, and has the largest colony of the magnificent frigate bird. Also encounter sea lions, land iguanas, and on a lucky day, you might even come across a Galapagos Snake. (B.L.D)

Day 6: Galapagos Islands | Quito

Thursday - This is your last day in the Galapagos, after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to the mainland. If your departure flight time permits, there may be time for a small scenic excursion enroute to the airport. Upon arrival, our driver and guide will be waiting for you in order to take you to your hotel, rest of day and evening at leisure. Overnight at your choice of hotel. (B)

Day 7: Depart Quito

Friday - Departure to Quito airport for your return flight. Alternatively, ask your travel agent about extending your stay in Ecuador with CIT Tours.
