Day 1: Arrival in Sorrento
Monday - Benvenuti in Italia! Arriving into Sorrento and check-in at your hotel. An optional private transfer is available. Check-in and enjoy some time to relax or explore this enchanting city on your own before meeting your host and travel companions in the late afternoon at the hotel for an information session. Dinner this evening will be hosted at a nearby restaurant within walking distance of your hotel. (D)
Day 2: Sorrento
Tuesday - In the morning, relaxing walking tour of Sorrento, the best way to recover your energy upon arrival.
This morning on a relaxing walking tour of Sorrento, you will visit the heart of the town: from Piazza Tasso to walk along Via San Cesareo, one of the oldest streets in town, until your reach Sedil Dominova, once the gathering place for Sorrento's high society. Here, you will see the lovely cloister which dates from 1300 then enjoy the amazing view from Piazza della Vittoria. Your walking tour will end with a taste of limoncello liquor in an ancient factory still located in the Old area of the town.
Late in the afternoon, meet your guide at the hotel to start your exploration of the magnificent Sorrento countryside. Very few know that Sorrento is surrounded by a magnificent countryside with exquisite vegetables, where you can smell the flavour of freshly baked bread and see cows that give excellent cheeses. It’s an incredible place if you consider that from many corners you can enjoy the view of the sea and Capri Island. You'll visit a farmhouse on the hills of Sorrento, managed by a Sorrentine family since five generations in about 20 minutes. The tour includes a trip to an ancient citrus grove and wine cellar located in Sorrento where your host, a young farmer, will explain the various stages of production of local wine with cold cuts of our own production. Afterwards, we will walk together through the vineyard, among the olive trees and products of the garden. At the end of the visit, we will taste some typical dishes of Sorrento prepared with natural ingredients all carefully grown on the farm. Any good dinner cannot end without a limoncello, and you will have yours, among the best in Sorrento. Return to your hotel and overnight in Sorrento
Day 3: Amalfi Drive & Ravello
Wednesday - The beauty of Amalfi Coast is legendary and has inspired artists, writers and musicians over the centuries, and is widely considered to be Italy's most scenic stretch of coastline, deemed by UNESCO "an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, with exceptional cultural and natural scenic values" These delicate fishing villages embrace the hillsides or stretch in deep green valleys, along a dramatic coastline, challenging the force of gravity.
Your driver guide will lead you first to the town of Amalfi where you will have free time to explore the medieval part of the city with the imposing Dome of St.Andrew and ancient buildings dated from the times when Amalfi was one of the maritime powers of the Mediterranean Sea. Later, you will ascend to Ravello, considered the most romantic and beautiful of small towns in Southern Italy. Perched on arduous, terraced slopes, the French novelist André Gide was quoted as saying that Ravello was closer to the sky than the sea. Covered with lush gardens, quiet and sleepy roads, you will find corners providing unforgettable views over the azure coast below. Return to Sorrento late afternoon. Overnight in Sorrento
Day 4: Sorrento
Thursday - Today is yours to pass as you choose, a perfect day to relax or take the opportunity to continue the exploration of the magnificent region. You may consider one of our many optional tours and we suggest a visit to the Isle of Capri, a tour to Paestum to visit the Greek Temples and taste the original buffalo mozzarella or explore Amalfi Coast by boat. Day 5: Pompeii & Naples
Friday - This morning you'll meet your driver at your hotel to travel to Pompeii. With Skip-the-Line entrance, you'll have a guided visit the Archeological Park of Pompeii. Then, continue to Naples where you will have the possibility to have a pizza lunch on your own. Start your guided visit of Naples at San Gennaro Museum, then visit the heart of the city. Before leaving, enjoy a panoramic sightseeing of the city with Castel dell’Ovo, Castel San Elmo, Royal Palace and the magnificent Riviera. At the end of the Naples tour, you'll be taken to the railway station where your tour guide will assist you in boarding your high speed train to Rome. In only 1hour you will the in the heart of Eternal City!
Once in Rome, your driver will meet you and bring you comfortably to your hotel. Check-in and enjoy some time to relax or explore the Eternal City on your own before meeting your host and travel companions in the late afternoon at the hotel bar. Dinner this evening will be hosted at a nearby restaurant within walking distance of your hotel. (D)
Day 6: Rome | Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica + Heart of Rome Walking Tour
Saturday - This morning, after breakfast you'll meet your driver and your guide and head to the Vatican Museum where you will enjoy Skip-the-Line entrance. Your visit will be memorable: our guides have drawn up a route to include all the major sights as well as some unexpected surprises. See the Belvedere Courtyard with Apollo Belvedere & Laocoön & His Sons, Raphael Rooms, the Galleries of the Candelabra, of the Maps and of the Tapestries, the Sistine Chapel and the Pinecone Courtyard plus St. Peter's Basilica ending with the magnificent view of the imposing Cathedral from St. Peter's Square. You'll return to your hotel with your driver and enjoy some free time for lunch on your own or simply take some time to relax before, late in the afternoon you'll meet your tour leader for a walking tour of the Baroque Town visiting Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Piazza di Spagna, the Italian Parliament and the fascinating narrow streets of ancient Rome. Now you can return to your hotel with your tour leader or remain in the historic centre to enjoy dinner on your own in the very heart of the eternal city. (B)
Day 7: Rome
Sunday - Today is yours to pass as you choose. This tour has been designed to offer the best of each city visited combined with ample free time to customise your travel experience as well as take your time to relax. Optional tours to choose from today include and Imperial Rome Tour with Colosseum Visit, or, visit one of the most beautiful art collections in Europe at Palazzo Borghese. If you are in the mood for travel, why not opt for an optional excursion to visit Capri or Pompeii taking advantage of the new high-speed train which connects Naples and Rome in just 1hour. Of course, you can simply spend the day wandering the historic streets. (B)
Day 8: Experience Tuscany
Monday - Today you'll check-out of your Rome hotel & travel by coach with your tour guide towards Florence with a stop along the way in Siena. During the journey, you will enjoy the beautiful Tuscan hills, the view of small enchanting villages as well as the vineyards and castles that dot this beautiful region. When the tour arrives in Siena, a wine & food experience will be held in the very heart of the old town. In the ancient times, there was only one city that competed against Florence for power, wealth and artistic beauties: Siena. Here you will enjoy a walking tour to discover Piazza del Campo, the main central square where the famous Palio horse race takes place every year, as well as exploring quieter backstreets and learning everything about the Contrade, the 17 medieval city districts that compete against each other in the Palio. Continue to Florence where you will arrive later afternoon. Time permitting, en route stop in Monteriggioni. Check-in to your hotel in Florence and the remainder of the day is yours to pass as you choose. (B)
Day 9: Florence Food & Art
Tuesday - Today you'll be introduced to Florence from the unknown and most picturesque sites of the city, you'll visit the market of San Lorenzo where it’s possible to see food arriving from the Tuscan countryside. It’s a chance to taste lots of varieties of local cheeses, fruits, vegetable, and bread. If you”re still hungry, there’s free time for lunch.
In the afternoon, meet your guide at the hotel and get ready to explore the heart of the town. Lorenzo de Medici transformed Florence into the cradle of the Renaissance by attracting the best artists, architects and writers of the time; Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli who he commissioned to produce various works of art and architecture. We’ll visit Piazza della Signoria, walk by the Palazzo Vecchio, the Duomo with Giotto's bell tower ( from outside), and the Ponte Vecchio. Our walk through Florence will end with a visit to the Accademia to admire, among the many masterpieces, the jewel of Michelangelo: the statue of David. (B)
Day 10: Florence
Wednesday - Today is your to pass as you choose or perhaps join an optional excursion to visit the famed Cinque Terre. On this excursion, you will discover the most beautiful villages of Cinque Terre, enjoy a relaxing escape from the crowds, through luxuriant panoramic seaside vineyards and savour a delicious fresh typical seafood lunch including Cinque Terre wine. Here you will also experience an amazing boat trip to take the most beautiful pictures of Cinque Terre from the sea. (B)
Day 11: Departure
Thursday - Today marks the end of your Amalfi Coast, Rome & Tuscany Small-Group Tour. At a time to suit your departing flight or train make your way to the airport or railway station to begin your onward journey. An optional private transfer is available. Arrivederci!
