With its remnants of Greek and Roman habitation, a fine medieval quarter and castle ruins, and modern shops and restaurants, it is easy to see why Taormina is one of Italy's top coastal resorts. Enjoy 4 days to soak it all up!

Day 1: Arrival in Taormina

Upon arrival in Taormina, you will be met and transferred to your selected hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free to relax or start exploring the area on your own. Overnight accommodation in Taormina.

Day 2: Mount Etna Tour

Breakfast at your hotel. In the morning, weather conditions permitting, you'll be picked up by your private English speaking driver-guide (*) for a 4-hour tour to famous Mount Etna, Europe's highest active Volcano reaching a height of approximately 2000m above sea level. Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and in an almost constant state of eruption, yet thousands of people live on its slopes and in the surrounding areas. The fertile volcanic soils support extensive agriculture, with vineyards & orchards spread across the lower slopes of the mountain and the broad Plain of Catania to the south. Enjoy a scenic drive through Sicily's countryside and drive up the Etna South road through a continuously changing landscape. As you climb higher, the lowlands evolve into dense woods sheltering a surprisingly large number of animal species that call the mountainside home, until you are left at the third tier of the mountain, a spartan wasteland of historic lava flows and volcanic ash. Dotted with snow most of the year, some of the lava is dated at 300,000 years old. Stop at a prestigious winery for a guided tour of the historic Wine Cellars and a tasting of the wines with local food pairings. Return to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day as you please. Day 3: Taormina

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then a full day at leisure to continue exploring Taormina on your own, visit nearby Giardini Naxos famous for its beaches & small yet bustling fishing port, or simply relax. Or you may wish to book one of the several optional tours available through CIT Tours such as a full day excursion Siracuse & its archaeological sites, or to Agrigento & the Valley of the Temples. In the evening you will be treated to dinner in your hotel restaurant. Overnight in Taormina. (B.D)

Day 4: Depart Taormina

Today marks the end of your Taormina vacation. Following breakfast, a private transfer will take you back to the airport, and end of our services. Or ask your travel agent about extending your vacation with CIT Tours. (B)
